As of 1 January 2008 the Australian Maritime College (AMC) has become
integrated with the University of Tasmania (UTAS). This is exciting news
for UTAS as the AMC is regarded as one of the best maritime institutions
in the world and qualifications from this college are highly respected
around the world.
We are in the process of including their courses on UTAS information.
Representatives should note the following arrangements:
All applications for AMC courses should go through the UTAS Admission
Office. UTAS international scholarships will apply for all AMC coursework courses.
The AMC is located next to the UTAS campus in Launceston, Tasmania
Accommodation and student services are shared
Programs available at AMC include the following:
Undergraduate Courses
Maritime Engineering
Maritime & Logistics Management
Marine Environment
Ocean Seafarer Training
These higher education courses are normally undertaken after the
completion of senior secondary school or TAFE training. AMC offer Bachelor Degrees, Honours Degrees, Advanced Diplomas, and Ocean Seafarer Training.
Vocational Training
Coastal Seafarer Training
Maritime & Logistics Management
Postgraduate Courses
Maritime & Logistics Management
Marine Environment
Engineering
These higher education courses are normally undertaken with a foundation of undergraduate study and work experience. AMC offer Coursework Graduate Certificates, Graduate Diplomas, Masters’ Degrees and Doctorate of Research (PhD).
Seafarer training through to Ships Master is available. Marine Engineering
also includes Naval Architecture. The AMC boasts near 100% employment for its graduates all over the world within three months of graduating and has close links with industry. It has cutting-edge research with facilities that are amongst the best in the world.
